MSL was formed in January 1988 and is one of the longest established independently owned legal expenses insurance providers within the UK insurance market.

For the Independent broker and insurance intermediary we have tailored a range of legal expenses insurance products and services, which we believe to be the most innovative and comprehensive currently available.


MSL is part of the Financial & Legal Group, that comprises a number of companies with over 20 years industry experience. We offer a full suite of legal expense insurance policies and accident management services in one, seamless operation.

In the early 1980s the Group offered a comprehensive motor ULR service coupled with credit car hire. This service was later enhanced to offer a fully underwritten LEI product and further extended over subsequent years to offer legal expense policies for most requirements.

As a fully regulated member of the Financial Services Authority (FSA), MSL has strived to ensure its products and service meet the ever-demanding requirements of the industry.

Having both the insurer and the supplier of replacement cars within the Financial & Legal Group places MSL in a unique position, as we can be sure our products and services are within its direct control.

The formation (within the Group in 1995) of Financial & Legal Insurance Company Ltd (fully authorised and regulated by the FSA and a member of the ABI) has enabled MSL to respond quickly to market needs; and consider schemes and ideas proposed by its brokers and intermediary clients.

MSL is in the vanguard of the industry; continually looking to improve its level of service and develop its innovative approach, in order to introduce new products.
